Eigenvalues of a Differential Operator and Zeros of the Riemann $\zeta$-Function

The eigenvalues of a differential operator on a Hilbert-Pόlya space are determined. It is shown that these eigenvalues are exactly the nontrivial zeros of the Riemann $\zeta$-function. Moreover, their corresponding multiplicities are the same.     

Continuous functions with impermeable graphs

We construct a Hölder continuous function on the unit interval which coincides in uncountably (in fact continuum) many points with every function of total variation smaller than 1 passing through the origin. We conclude that this function has impermeable graph—one of the key concepts introduced in this paper—and we present further examples of functions both with permeable and impermeable graphs. Moreover, we show that typical (in the sense of Baire category) continuous functions have permeable graphs. The first example function is subsequently used to construct an example of a continuous function on the plane which is intrinsically Lipschitz continuous on the complement of the graph of a Hölder continuous function with impermeable graph, but which is not Lipschitz continuous on the plane. As another main result, we construct a continuous function on the unit interval which coincides in a set of Hausdorff dimension 1 with every function of total variation smaller than 1 which passes through the origin.     

Large gaps between consecutive zeros of the Riemann zeta-function

Combining the amplifiers, we exhibit other choices of coefficients that improve the results on large gaps between the zeros of the Riemann zeta-function. Precisely, assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis (GRH), we show that there exist infinitely many consecutive gaps greater than 3.033 times the average spacing.     

ON THE ZEROS OF A CLASS OF POLYNOMIALS AND RELATED ANALYTIC FUNCTIONS

In this paper we prove some interesting extensions and generalizations of Enestrom- Kakeya Theorem concerning the location of the zeros of a polynomial in a complex plane. We also obtain some zero-free regions for a class of related analytic functions. Our results not only contain some known results as a special case but also a variety of interesting results can be deduced in a unified way by various choices of the parameters.     

On Growth of Polynomials with Restricted Zeros

Let P(z) be a polynomial of degree n which does not vanish in |z| k, k ≥ 1.It is known that for each 0 ≤ s n and 1 ≤ R ≤ k,M (P~(s), R )≤( 1/(R~s+ k~s))[{d~((s)/dx(s))(1+x~n)}_(x=1)]((R+k)/(1+k))~nM(P,1).In this paper, we obtain certain extensions and refinements of this inequality by involving binomial coefficients and some of the coefficients of the polynomial P(z).
